Default Bought a 99 GT

Just picked up a 99GT BONE Stock.

I was looking for input on ideas to run with, I am looking to do a complete motor swap on this. I am looking to drop a crate motor in it along with either a twin turbo set up or a super charger. Looking to make some NICE HP and beeing street driven. So any ideas would be great

Thanks.

How much HP are you looking for? You can build pretty decent HP on those cars as they sit with the right blower combination. If you wanted to get up too far over 400 HP, I'd think forging your internals and adding boost would be a heck of a lot cheaper than getting a whole new motor for the car. If you're going to spend that kind of cash, why not get a Cobra or a new Shelby that's got the hard work already done?

Stock bottom ends, even on most of the FR crates, will handle a max of 9-10 lbs of boost. Usually 450 lb/ft is the safe limit. Instead of a crate, you may consider a custom built short block, and then add more boost. Without knowing your power goals, I would say 500hp/550 lb/ft on the street is plenty. After that you're going to have severe traction problems on street radials.

Was looking for 450/550hp and open to all options i could build a short block and just pick n choose the rest of the parts, *ie heads and cam etc. That is a option as this is going to be a project for street and strip.

It sounds like you have done very little to no research on what it takes to do what you are wanting. I suggest you search around and find info. Then when you have more specific questions we can help instead of "hey I want 450/550, how do I do it and which is best?"

With that much HP comes a lot of upgrading rather than just the motor.
