Question on Catted H

^ I think that ultimately it's up to an officer's discretion. You could get a simple "fix-it ticket", which are no big deal, nasty fine, impounded, or a combination of those three things. IMO most cops are gonna be more interested in citing you for a moving violation before they have to stand there on the side of the road verifying CARB compliancies for your aftermarket parts.

I honestly have no idea. I usually have decent luck with law enforcement, so I believe that with the right attitude and excuse that you could get away with a fix-it ticket. Now, if they catch you racing or driving like an ******* (doing burnouts, etc.), that's when I think you're gonna be screwed. Maybe I'm lucky, but my car just doesn't seem to attract the attention of much law enforcement (S.B. County Sheriff and CHP roll pretty deep in my area). I had a CHP follow me for a few miles and eventually pull me over (registration issue) about 5 or 6 mos. ago, and he actually complimented me on my car and let me off with a warning ("Just get down to DMV and get your sticker"). Of course, nothing was mentioned regarding my non-compliant part(s), and as should be done anyway, I shut the engine down while I was pulled over as to not let him have a whiff of the fumes.
