Would a 1999-2004 mustang be a good first car?

My first car was a 96 v6. One year later I got my 97GT WOTd it everywhere(I was 17). stared modding it, For some reason half throttle or even 1/4th trottle is fun when I out accelerate the retards in thier 4 bangers then get a flyby then rev cause they thought I was racing. I am almost 20 looking into buying a LS1 M6 trans am in the next month my insurance is suprisingly lower every car I get(insurance companies make no sense).

I think a Gt would make a great first car as it matures you faster, look at honda people I know guys that had slow 4 bangers for 3-4 years now and still WOT every stop and "drift" in parking lots weekendly. Where I mabey go WOT mabey once or twice in a day and the most fun I have in a parking lot is that nervous(police) one small half dougnut and im done.
When you get the car you want you respect it a bit more than the car your parents forced you to drive I almost had a pontiac sunfairy/funfire.

my first car was a 99 v6, about 2 years later i bought my GT, what these guys are saying is right, i know i dont drive my GT anywhere near the way i drove my v6, im not sure if its because i got into enough trouble with the v6 or because i matured as a driver but all in all, mustang is an amazing first car..i do kinda feel like if i started in a GT rather than a v6 though i wouldnt have gotten into as much trouble, constantly felt the need to prove my car was fast to people in the v6, i dont have that problem in the GT cuz i know its fast lol, id go with a GT...

man im 18 and started with a 2000 GT and everyone including the rents thought id wrap it around a tree. BUT, Im not a dumbass and 2 1/2 yrs later no tickets or accidents at all. Also, i WOULD recommend getting a manual rather than an auto, just bc it forces you to pay attention. Thats the only thing driving wise that i have a problrm with, but a manual takes care of that for you. AND you cant talk or txt while driving, and you cannot eat either. IMO, having a badass manual car saved me, bc if i had a 99 civic, I prob would have killed myself

this is very true

if you can be mature and responsible about driving, a GT would be fine, the car has enough power though to get yourself into a lot of trouble really quick (not saying these cars have like 1000000 rwhp), it also has the potential for you to grow as a driver and it's a great car to start modding as you become a better driver
