Default Do cats lower the sound alot?

Right now I have bbk shorties, bbk o/r h-pipe and mac catback. I also have cams, so my car is very loud. I love the sound, but I have been pulled over for it. No ticket yet. I plan on getting mac long tubes through a mac prochamber and eventually tfs heads with cms stage 3 cams. That will be a very loud setup, especially with the cams. My question is, would a catted x or h lower the sound of tht setup or would it not make much of a difference? Thanks.

A set of high flow cats will tone it down quite a bit. They will be significantly louder than the stock cats though. Long tubes will smooth out the idle a little, and give it a deeper, slightly quieter sound, but it will scream at WOT. Also, the prochamber will be quieter than a o/r pipe...probably closer to a catted x or h.

Yeah I've heard that a prochamber mid is a little quieter and smoother and not too raspy. You think if I buy cats and have them welded on to the prochamber, it will still sound good?

Honestly, i think that would be to quiet IMO. Just the addition of the long tubes, and PC (not catted) will be noticeably quieter than your shorties and o/r h at idle.

Then again the CMS stage 3 cams might possibly offset the difference lol. It should be quieter cruising around though.

Longtubes and a catted x pipe from kooks would be optimal with say a 3" catted x pipe. Cus i mean with the stage 3 cams and TFS heads youre gonna need that flow, especially with the midpipe being catted.

Yeah you bring up a good point. Would the kooks x fit with the mac long tubes?

It says that they are only for use for kooks headers. I was suggesting that you go with some larger primary headers. But if not, you can probably talk to the people at Kooks and get them to make one that is compatible with MAC headers.
