but all the CAI setups and what not wont have a big enough effect on performance that would be worth spending the couple hundred on a setup especially on stock N/A cars (not saying yours is stangalator)

EDIT: a "ram air" would be functional in terms of supplying the filter (in the engine bay) cooler air just from driving it, but thats about it
this is what i use to have, removed it because i missed my fog lights.

It is a "ram air" but i know what you mean. I read the article and it makes since, you only gain about .1psi at 70mph with a perfect system. Of course supplying the engine with as cold of air as the outside prob helped for something.

I argee though, it wasn't worth its weight under say 50mph, lol.

i did that heater ducting ram air on my v6 when i was younger lol. the guy that did the writeup had a black cobra if i remember correctly right?

okay heres my dispute to that ram air article.

does adding a high flow air filter give you even one horsepower more than a stock paper filter? yes. why? because your engine is sucking air like a syringe with no positive incomming pressure, only suction. if there is some positive pressure on the incomming air, it will be able to overcome the restrictions of the filter, bends and curves of the intake won't it? the guy that wrote that professor-ish 16 page article just proved that in a car you won't be going fast enuff to compress the incomming air. HOWEVER, did he even MENTION that having some positive incomming pressure can't help the air move quicker through the restrictions of the intake? if it helps overcome the restrictions, there is going to be power gained. even if its only a couple horsepower (no where near the 15-30 claims that are given, but still)

Honestly i saw some PVC intakes before and they look like complete ***...and not the kind on the hot chick down the hall in your dorm...but the kind on a 70 year old fat woman who sits on the couch at home with her 20 bazillion cats.

This or bust...

Or i'll sell you my JLT CAI for cheap and you can paint it cus i'll need to buy a new intake soon anyways. And this time i am going with a JLT RAI just because the front of the car is going to be SLAMD!

you don't want to used PVC because when heated PVC will release a small amount of gas that i heard can damage the engine over time. if you want a colored one, like everyone else said, just get a cheap one off of ebay and paint it with high-temp paint.

JLT....rip off... i love the "budget CAI" its a cone filter a clamp and a plastic heat shield for $100....get a K&N( i got a new one from AZ for $43) and a home depot run to get some plastic sheet to bend around the filter.

all these CAI come down to is looks, if you want to waste $200 on a 4" plastic pipe that will not give you gains but look "nifty" then go for it....better yet give me the $200 and i will put it toward some gears for my car lol not to mention it looks funny going from a 4" pipe down to a 2.5" TB

EDIT: they should make a 4" TB and plenum ahah now that would look badass....clearly only useable on a high hp car.

They do...gotta buy an edelbrock intake manifold to use it though...and like a 4" hood. But im getting whats the equivilent of it though...dragon makes a monoblade throttle body for the cobras and a plenum to fit one of the monoblade throttle bodies to a 2v intake manifold. Going with one in a couple of months.
