Is there anyway i can remove the motor and tranny without taking the intake manifold off? even if i separate the tranny dont care about that...just dont want to have to buy new intake manifold gaskets.

i guess i shoulda been more specific. I already have the hood off. Im more wondering what the best way to support it is, i dont seem to have any points to attach a chain to, i was thinking about wrapping around the exhaust manifolds but its a real tight fit. Just trying to figure out the best way to get the stupid thing out of the car. And im pulling it for 2 reasons, simple bottom rebuild for the motor and t-56 swap for the tranny.

Yeah, you can pull it without pulling the intake. I attached hooks to the 18MM timing cover bolt on the front drivers side and a threaded hole on the back side of the passenger head. You can see the general location of the back hook in this pic.

I did something similar except instead of using the timing cover bolt I removed the alternator and put a stronger bolt into one of those holes and used it.

i was thinking about those bolts, they just didnt look that strong, also did you belly wrap it? cuz looks like the other chain just goes under the motor? and since youvce pulled it do you think its strong enough to haul the tranny out with it?

That 18MM is a pretty thick bolt, I never worried about it. Even pulling the tranny I wouldn't worry. No, that chain that goes under the motor is the slack to my hoist.

I'm planning on a stick to automatic swap and was debating if its easier crawling up under the car and swapping or just yank the motor and swap and reinstall.
