Default guys with tubular k-frames

how easy is it to get to the header bolts with an aftermarket k member? my car constantly has a leak on the driver's side, and i don't think that the shops i'm taking it to have been putting RTV sealant on the gaskets when they're installed, causing the leak (i've had my headers done twice). i'd feel better doing the headers myself, but i don't have the means to lower my k-frame and motor, i've tried before. can you get to all the bolts without removing an aftermarket k frame? and is it stupid to get a k frame and put the stock control arms back on? after this year, my car will no longer be daily driven, just probably once a week to work and on the weekends. thoughts?

with the u-joint in my steering shaft hitting my headers (which i am going to fix this weekend or next, i just haven't gotten around to it) i can hear the leak get worse as the u-joint makes contact with the pipe, making me believe the leak is at the heads.

driver side should be ok..might have to just jack the motor up and pop the mount out of your way tho...passenger side is a bit harder, but i have pulled the headers out with out removing the stock k member.

Tubular k member gives you tons of room. this pic compares old to new outside of the car. its quite a difference

Put it this way... I installed the engine and the transmission and then installed my heads with everything completely bolted up already.

I just hung the motor from the alternator with a comealong on the rafters. The install couldn't have went easier.

I've got the MM k member and the guys that installed my MM solid steering shaft was able to do it with it on, there is tons of clearance to get to the bolts on both driver and pass side. You will need extensions/u joints still tho.
