ok this is coming from an ls1 owner...and ive seen many threads about ppl wasting money on the wrong ls1 car. (depending on your definition of wasting money)

but i highly suggest you buy a ws6, or at least a well optioned trans am. most formula's are crap IMO. they are ugly and the a4's are slow(just ask gstam). just incase you don't know the formula is just the v6 car with an ls1 in it. the trans am's generally come with more options(leather, 12 disc changer, m6 with 3.42's, bigger brakes, t-tops, front and rear fascia, and better spoiler) the ws6 also had all those options available plus the ram air hood, bigger sway bars, better rims and tires, and IIRC better shocks and springs.

so here which would you rather have:

or this...

or this...

same thing applies with the z28 vs SS camaro's. which is exactly why i didn't buy a z28. i paid $11k for my SS.

and i'm pretty damn happy with it. where as i just had a good friend of mine upgrade to an '02 z28 from a '95 z28, and guess what, he still drools over my car and kicks himself for not buying an SS. anyways, just my input it's not like i have any experience with these cars.

I didn't read any replys.

But I would say do the deal, then sell the LS1.

You wont have time in the military to buy a car. Bank the money, put it in a CD or something to gain intrest for a year, and when the 5.0 S197 comes out, walk in and pay cash with the saved up cash between now and then.

I'm gonna agree with everyone else and say sell it and just get another mustang when your done with the air force. I'm actually thinking of joining the Air Force or Marines, haven't decided.

i dont know what to tell you about the car. Keep the stang haha. Im in the army. I would look into savings type accounts the air force has. If its anything like the army there are accounts short term and long term that you can make alot more then 3%. Just so you know. Im in Iraq right now and they has a savings plan for deployed soldiers that pays 10% in a year.

Just something for you to look into. I kept both my stangs after i joined. Since iv been deployed i paid 4 payments a month till i paid the 04 off. Up to you though gettin that $10,000 in payments isnt a bad idea either.

The best car is one that's paid for and still satisfying.

Current situation:
-Built 04 GT (low miles, too much money into it, etc.)
-Clean 00 Galant
-$10,026 financed at 4.9% interest

Will be situation:
-Clean 00 LS1 Formula (120k, loaded, leather, ttops, etc.)
-Clean 00 Galant
-No money financed

Now what should I do next? I'm going to be banking my pay to save up for my house and to buy my next car cash.

If I sell the Formula I could put about $8k down on something now and finance the rest for about a year, or wait and get my new car in about 3 years with a $30k budget.

If you had either of these choices, what car would you pick for each one? This is NOT going to be a mod car. I plan on putting a couple things on it that won't mess with resale or reliability though...ie: if I were to get a termi I would add wheels, some basic suspension and maybe a catback. I'm really looking for something practical that will last me at least 10 years without problems. Its going to be my daily whenever the weather is nice.

Yes, I'm a car ***** I know, but this time it's all about getting a car I can call an asset not a liability like I did with the Galant...(Paid $2900 and it will last another 5 years still being fun and overall it's not gonna die anytime soon).

Cars that I plan on going to test drive soon:
-Cailber Srt-4
-HHR/Cobalt Sedan SS
-Civic SI Sedan
-Galant Ralliart/GTS/Loaded ES
-Accord Sedan (Loaded, 4 banger)
-G6 GT Sedan (Loaded, v6)
-Jetta/Golf 4 door (TDI)
-Subaru Legacy/Impreza
-Hyundai Azera/Sonota Limited

The Sonota seems like such a steal when you get so much car for so cheap (with about 3-5k miles on it) you get warranty for 10 years too. Then if you look at the Azera, you get everything the Sonota is, but more.

The main reason that I'm considering buying the nice car now and possibly financing the rest for a year is because car prices are still pretty low, but steadily rising as the economic situation of the general public improves.

"Get -r- done" I don't mind maros and birds. Mustangs are better but this is a mustang forum so you should have known that's what my opinion should be.
