Bonded title means that he bought the car with no title and he is not the registered owner. You get one and it stays bonded for 3 years. If the true owner comes forward, they can take you to court and if they win, the company that bonded the title will pay up and then you have to pay back the bonding company.

So, I trade him, the real owner steps up and takes me to court, they win, I have to pay the bonding company the value of the car. So yeah, I would be out my car and the value of the 89, which is why I don't mess with them.

Tell me about it. You can get pwned real quick with one. It works fine if you bought it legit from a legit seller. What sucks is if it's stolen. I won't touch a salvage, rebuilt, or bonded title with a 10 foot pole. Especially since I get bored quick and usually only keep a car for a year or two.
