Default Dot Matrix on Rear Window

Has anybody put a sheet of vinyl over the dot matrix themselves? I just got a couple sheets of vinyl from my friend and i noticed that since the rear window is slightly curved, i need to cut the vinyl perfectly in order to make this looks good.

Has anybody done this themselves or can anybody give me some pointers?

I'm not bringing it to a tint place so that's outta the question.

Well my tint had problem sticking so the guy who tinted my car has this glue that is green to help it stick... With out it, the tint will pretty much fall off..

measure with a string in about 15 different spots across the window horizontally and use those measurements to make a template. That way you will surely get the correct cut.

Or clean the outside of your rear window and put wax on it. Place the vinyl on the way and cut with a razor blade. Thats what the tint guy (buddy) did.

why not take it to a tint shop? they told me they would put a vinyl over it for $30 ...seems like that would be worth saving the hassle of cutting it yourself and then worrying that it doesnt even stick

I think i'm going to try this with a tape measurer... If i fail badly, i'll have my buddy do the measurement and type it into his machine (own a vinyl shop) so that its cut to spec.

Black99- i told the tint shop that put on my tint to put vinyl (the i suppled) over the dot matrix... They ended up tinting over the dot matrix with tint and it sticks fine, but it doesnt look good... Everything looks great besides the dots. I told those damn guys to put the vinyl on and i walk out to my car when they were doing it and they started putting the vinyl on the outside of my window! I told them i want it on the inside and to rip that off NOW. They said "This is how you do vinyl strips. They go on the outside". So i said "I know of several people with it on the inside. Thanks anyway, ill do it myself"

So a year later, i finally decided that i want to do this. I will try and do it and let you guys know how badly i fail when i get around to doing this. Get the FAILBOAT pics ready...

I can put vinyl on myself and tint and all that stuff, but when i have to cut things to fit, it never seems to work out. Especially when im a perfectionist and i need the vinyl to go no lower than the dot matrix so it needs to be flush and straight all the way across! I'll spend 3 hours on it if i have to. As long as it looks good.

Measure twice, cut once

If anybody wants to make money, sell vinyl that is pre-cut for the dot matrix on a mustang. Ill buy one
