Default gear whine

i just installed 373s in my 99 mustang gt i did it by myself with help from a teacher at school i replaced the bearings, and everything seemed to go perfect replaced everything the same way it came out..it drives good no clunking or anything but if i listen close with the radio off i hear a slight whine when decelerating and mostly when im in 2nd gear iv only put about 60 miles on it since the install..iv heard the break in period is about 300 miles should i wait till then to see if it goes away..little things like this drive me crazy so what can i do to get the whine to go awayyy all feedback is appreciated thanks

I hear my gears whine sometimes. No big deal. Aftermarket gears tend to do that sometimes.

there shouldn't have any gear whine.. did you mix in a bottle of friction modifier in when you filled the rearend back up?

Not unless the clutches in the trac-lok are binding. You will know if they are too. It'll chatter going around turns and all.

Just drive it. No john force burnout or pulls for the first few hundred miles. And my gears made some noise when i first put em in and now they're quiet. Unless its really loud and noticeable even with the radio turned up you don't have anything to worry about. BTW, what brand gear did you go with?

Ford Racing is the best one and the one you can install with the least amount of noise. Motive tend to be nosier as they are harder to get set up perfectly, but it is all about the install like said above. If the pattern is on and everything is to spec and there is still noise it has to do with the way the gears were machined, and then at that point the noise would be inevitable.
