Default Is this bad or not so bad???

Guys,

As alot of you may know, I got royally f***ed over by some guy who I was going to buy an engine from. I drive 3 hours to this shmucks house to pick up this engine only to see the engine passing me on the road. Anyways, I found another engine but not as good as the other one. Its a 98 GT complete engine with all accessories and has 75,000 miles on it. Better than the 156,000 miles on my oil burning machine. Here's the catch, when he went to buy new spark plugs for it, the guy at the auto store sold him the wrong ones so they threaded too far down when he installed them. He started the car and one of the pistons hit the end of one of the spark plugs. The mechanic he took his car to informed him there was no hole in the piston but had a small chip on top of the piston. The chip isnt on the edge of the piston its around the center of it. The cylinder was also boroscoped and there was no damage to the cylinder walls. Do you think this engine is worth purchasing for $400? And lets just say I did purchase it, is a chipped piston a bad thing or a not so bad thing? What could happen to a motor with a chipped piston? Thanks in advance.

is a npi motor with ruined sparkplug holes and a chipped piston worth $400? I don't even think a perfect NPI motor is worth $400... no go buy a PI motor.

I would go and buy a PI engine if money wasnt a factor, but it is because the wife don't know how to stop spending money!! Hell, all of our $7,000 tax refund is already gone. And she might be the next thing gone if she don't knock it off. I can't find any PI engines around where I live unless its on ebay and then they want you to pay over $1,500 on a high mile PI engine, and thats not without the shipping charge. Thats why I am wanting to know how bad a chipped piston is. Spark plug holes are fine. I am just needing something that will last me longer than the one thats in my car now until I can save up and get a new PI engine or a DOHC engine.

go to corral.net and search modular classifieds.

better yet just make a thread. sorry if that is advertising or w/e, MF has good tech but their classifieds suck. Im thinking you can find a complete PI motor for under $600 which would be well worth the extra 200. I saw a top end going for like $275 or something.

goodluck.
