Default X-Pipe/H-Pipe sound increase?

I'm thinking of getting an o/r x-pipe or h-pipe to replace my stock unit. My entire exhaust system is currently stock. I know that an x-pipe will give more hp, but i'm wondering about how much sound increase I would hear? Also, what each one sounds like?

I can't find anything with all stock except for a mid-pipe. Everything has a cat-back add-on or headers as well.

The sound increase is pretty minimal. I bolted up an o/r h-pipe before cat back, and at idle there was no sound difference. At WOT you can definitely hear a difference, but it's nothing major. It always sounded pretty muffled from what I can remember. Once you throw cat back on, it will definitely increase the sound a WHOLE lot!

If you're getting a good deal on the mid pipe I say go for it, but if you're paying full price I would just throw the money towards cat back. Do the cat back first because eventually you'll probably want long tubes, and then the purchase of this mid pipe is useless.

If u are getting a mid pipe then get a cat back system too... but as far as what mid pipe to get it depends on what mufflers u gonna have!?

@02 stang
Well the overall goal for now was going to be upgrade my exhaust sound at a minimal price...that being said I was trying to see if I could get by with a non-catted x-pipe for now (assuming this would give me a sound increase) and once I have more money to play with, invest in the cat-back. To answer your question though, I would eventually like to get magnapacks or something along that line.

I did flowmaster exhaust first and it made my car sound WAY better ($100 for used mufflers and another $100 to get them welded in). Then I bought an O/R H pipe for $50 and put it in myself, quite a bit louder but sounds sooo nice.

magnapacks you'll probably want a catted x pipe to go with that. too loud, raspy, and farty with an o/r x pipe in my opinion. But go youtube what you want your final product to be and watch some videos and make adjustments to what you want and go based off of that.
