04 Crown vic help, motor not doing so well

My block is in need of replacing and I just want to put a stock complete long block back in my car. I don't have money to rebuild.

So my question is: What is the difference between the 04 Crown Vic police interceptor motor and the 2000 motor in my car now? The Vic is rate for a little less hp and tq than my stock block. Why is that and can I buy something to make them equal?

Bump.

I think that the compression might be lower in the vic and probably not as strong of cams as the mustang motor. Other than that i dont see what the differences could be since its the same block, same heads, and i think it uses the same intake manifold. If it doesnt have the same intake manifold, that might be something restricting power as well.

Thanks teej. That would be nice if the cams were the same and a different intake. That way I could swap the intake pretty easy with my current one now.

Is there anyway or place that I could get a definite answer to what the differences are?

I think it might all be in the intake manifold and/or cams. The PI motor makes 260hp and 302tq, the cv motor makes like 225/275. Now the difference comes in at the rpm the power is made at. The PI gt motor makes peak power at 5200 where the cv makes peak power at 4800 and they both make torque at the same place, 4k. So i think it honestly is going to be both the cams and intake, as the compression seems to be the same for both at 9.4:1(which i thought was 9.6:1 but i guess not)

Ya isn't the Crown Vic motor a PI motor? So wouldn't that mean same block, cams and heads? I could be wrong about it being PI. Exhaust I have already, and intake manifold and upper intake I can swap over. Just want to get a more definite answer before I buy anything.

All the trucks, exploders, crown vics, and other 4.6 v8 cars were PI cars. Its really just the head design i think that makes a PI car a PI because i think the heads are roughly the same on all of the cars/trucks but they definitely put different cams in each application. Like they arent going to put the same cams in a mustang as they are a truck...just not right. So i'd say that they cams and intake are different. Also i doubt on an engine with these kinda specs would lose 35hp just from using another intake manifold. Know what i mean???

The exhaust on the mustangs is better flowing, and has a big MAF. The additional weight of the vic requires a little less timing advance to avoid detonation.

So what I'm hoping to get answered is: is the crown vics block, heads and cams the same? I can swap stuff from my motor now onto the crown vic if they are different. It's just that I don't want to swap heads or cams.

I think based on what ive found, the cams are all the same in the cars using the pi heads stock. So i think youre good there. Intake manifold is probably different though. refer to MHS's website.
