this is the reason i went with turbo and stock 3:27s instead of a supercharger and 4:10s. My 4th gear pulls hard from 70 till around 130-140. That means im shifting one less gear than the other guy. Everytime im roll racing with other cars they always end up shifting waay before I do. Ive usually still got at least 1k-2k rpm left. Thats when I say goodbye mister 4:10's...lol

totally man, exactly right. Even with a the centri and 3.31's, I've got plenty of pull up top

6k rpm
180ish mph

but if you hopped in your car on a stock motor with 3.73s and ran it out, you wouldnt come close to that speed because you dont have the HP to do it

i think someone here has a calc that will tell you how much HP would need to make to hit top speed in certain gear ratios...i forget where, but i know its been covered before....but most races are 40-140 anyways, so i think you would be fine even with a 3.73 or a 4.10.....you dont have the HP for any of the bigger rolls like 80-180 etc, so that shouldnt be a concern
I agree with you. I don't know what my deal was about 5th gear, but I forget that everyone else has to shift into overdrive as well.

I wonder if a 4.10 GT vs the exact same car except 3.27's...who would win up top. I know in the 1/4 mile that's a given provided traction is perfect, drivers are the same, etc... I wonder if later on, for example 115mph + will the 3.27 catch the 4.10 GT?

There has to be some way to calculate this.

not saying that no one races over 100 but honestly ive been in a number of races, its pretty clear by 100 whos winning or losing. or tied...lol i really dont see a reason to go to 150. and really all my races end around 100 anyway because your either in front of me or behind me. only had one guy next to me, and that was my friend in his mustang lol...altho i was winning, but only cuz im bolt on and he wasnt, but again maybe half a car or better from 65-100. not a lot.

I raced my buddy's e36 m3 from about a 40 or 60 roll til around 135ish and we were literally neck and neck... I was maybe a foot ahead. That's how close it was. Then i hit 5th and he hit his 5th and he FLEW past me... I had no more pick up. Or maybe my diablosport didnt turn off my speed limiter? Not All races are over by 100, but most are.

Who cares how fast you can go. It's all about how fast you can get there.

There's a balance though. If that was the case, everyone would have at the least 4.56's haha
