Default Steering column gauge pod and boost gauge

Anyone have a boost gauge in an autometer steering column pod? Just curious how you guys ran everything. Also what is the best place to run the hose to on the discharge pipe of a vortech. Or where did you guys run it?

What hose are you talking about on the discharge side? The bypass valve itself or the line running off the bypass to a vacuum source?

I have that exact setup. I pulled the lense to gauges and the panel under the steering wheel and I ran the wires and vacuum under the gauges down through lower panel. I end up hooking the positive to the dimmer on my radio, and found a good ground. Then I hooked the vacuum line up to the drivers side fuel rail. I just installed mine yesterday took about an hour, but I pulled out my radio to get to the wires.

Thanks for the reply! Got a pic of where you are talking about on the fuel rail? I haven't really looked at it much yet.

I will get a pic in a little while, but if you look on the drivers side fuel rail there is only one place it can go, you will see the other vacuum lines connected to it.

I figured being a boost gauge it had to go on the super charger plumbing. Guess I really am a noob heh

I stole this from ehow.com but it explains how the boost / vacuum gauge works

Since forced air induction engines rely on injection of compressed air into the car's combustion chamber, and compressed air exists at a higher pressure than normal ambient air, boost gauges simply measure the pressure of the air flowing into the vehicle's combustion chamber. This function is achieved by running a small airtight tube from the gauge to the engine's intake manifold; the tube allows a very small amount of air to flow from the manifold into the gauge where the air pressure physically moves the gauge needle. Boost gauges normally measure a large range of pressure spanning from negative numbers (which register the normal vacuum condition under which engines operate in the absence of a supercharger or turbocharger) to positive numbers or boost, the boost reading is usually displayed in pounds per square inch (PSI)

It doesn't. I think smythge was just explaining that he tapped into a vacuum line near that fuel rail.

That makes more sense. Still can't wait to see the pic so I know exactly where to connect it!
