Default Coilovers

Is there any shot that you would be able to use tokico HP struts with a coilover kit such as UPR or is it not recommended?

What are a list of struts that you "should" use with coil-overs?

I am trying to cheap out here and use my tokico HP's (blues) and a coil over kit but idk if its going to work. I just want to drop my pony and have the adjustability as well as comfort/handling abilities without breaking the bank.

If i could use my HP's, ill order the coil over kit now and drop it down to where i want it...

Not sure, but I know some struts have to have a little bit ground off them to work. try calling tokico and asking them the compatibility

That's a good idea. Idk why i didnt think of calling them lol.

Yeah i have heard that with a lot of struts you need to grind a part down on the top of the strut or something

Contact Maximum Motorsports. Thats the only coilover kit i'd buy besides Griggs and you'll HAVE to get caster/camber plates. You'll probably have to use some kinda weak spring rates which will still give you the same/better performance than stock location springs and the ride is going to be awesome. MM makes coilovers to use tokico struts so talk to them.

MM doesn't recommend coil-overs for those Tokico's. The Illumina or D-Spec's will work. You will only be able to run a front coil-over with Tokico's. MM won't make a rear kit because of the way the Tokico shocks are made.

+1... Would i be able to?

These struts probably really aren't meant for the heavy loads the CO's will put on them... I just want the coil overs for the increased handling and the adjustability...

What is a nice CO set up for up front w/o breaking the bank? and which struts are best?

Youre gonna break the bank for a good coilover setup. Its going to cost you a minimum of $900 in parts to get a good setup. MM coilover kit, Koni yellows(on sale through the koni website for 25% off), and MM c/c plates. the CO kit is $370, the struts are $312, and the c/c plates are $200. So you add that up to about $882 in parts and i dont know what the shipping is going to be so you're looking at $900+ for a good front coilover setup. The rear will be cheaper as you dont need C/C plates and shocks are generally cheaper than struts are. Shocks are at $216 and the coilovers are $450 so you'd be looking at around $680+ after shipping and all that stuff. But that would be the route i'd be taking(that was the route i was going to take...til i found out im getting an IRS!!! ) I still will be going that route but with the IRS stuff.

You probably "can" but that doesn't mean you should.

If the struts aren't meant for the heavy loads, they aren't going to work to increase your handling.

You aren't going to get away with a cheap coil-over set up unless you are drag racing. The MM and Grigg's stuff isn't cheap.
