Questions About Hellion Single Kit On 02GT?
im getting ready to purchase a Hellion single turbo kit for my 02GT but i was wondering a few things since im new to the turbo field. I currently have a vortech strim that im gonna swap out for the turbo. Here are my questions:
-How do you adjust the boost on the Hellion Kit? is there a manual boost controller or what?
-I'm taking my 4.10gears out and putting my stock 3.27 back in so what size tire should i use for the strip if i use 28" tires now since im a 5speed.
-How is the drivability of the turbo kit compared to the Vortech?
-Is there any more maintenance going from the Vortech to the Hellion kit?
-Can I still get my stock t3650 tranny out of the car with the turbo kit installed?
-Do turbos "lose" power or get heatsoaked like my Vortech kit does?
-Ive heard turbos are "safer" than blowers....is that true?

2. 24-25"
3. Similar except you will gain MPG.
3. Not really. Turbos just require more attention.
4. Not sure how hellion runs their pipes.
5. Nope, your vortech doesn't really either..
6. Nothing is really safer than the other. Any form of F/I there is always a risk involved. Turbos are more efficient.

Turbos are known to have alot of torque, and as I've heard, they don't have as much of a linear curve like your blower does; the boost is giong to hit harder. As far as I'm concerned, a turbo is not safer than a blower. A blower is controlled by pulleys and a belt, very simple. Since turbos run off exhaust, when you start pushing more boost, they can begin to float your valves. Also, you can always run into problems with wastegates and boost controllers. If the gate sticks closed, you'll be getting as much boost as the turbo will produce. It's definitely not uncommon to hear of people running into boost controller problems, either. You may never have either of these problems, but in the event that you do, it could be a big one.
