Bought a mustang: HP Estimate?!
#21
I live in Texas. Harris County-Emissions Testing, Chambers County-No Emissions testing.I Have a house in both counties(Dont be mis-lead im still 20MIn outside of Houston. it's not BFE) I use the house in Chambers that way i can keep my O/R Pipe and get inspections with no sweat.--There side by side but Chambers is "country", ---Is it like this other places? I think when i bought my Roush in Florida they didnt do emissions either. Explain??
It was costing them money as the expenses outpaced the fees, and it dawned on someone (who deserves a reward) that fewer than 1% of the cars tested were failing--and that only cars older than 3 or 4 years (I don't remember for sure) were being tested. So overall the failure rate was 0.01% or less...so what was the point opf testing them at all?
Prior to that they had the same sort of county-by-county nonsense.

Hey guys, I bought a 2003 sonic blue GT with 40k miles the other day. I love the car, i was just curious with the stuff that it has done to it, what you guys would estimate the horse power at. Either to the flywheel or the rear wheels. Anyway, its a 5 speed with a short throw, BBK cold air intake, BBK throttle body (not sure what size), under drive pulleys, bassani headers, full bassani exhaust, 4:10 rear end. It also has a cobra hood, front bumper, rims, eibach springs (dropped 2 inchs), and a few other random things. Obviously the last few mods dont have anything to do with horsepower, just wanted to let you guys know.
tune may give you an extra 7 hp....

There is not any direct way to know if a custom tune has been flashed. It will need to be downloaded and be compared to a factory tune.
It your exhaust system has catalytic converters there will be no codes thrown--if it does not have catalytic converters, and you bought it from a licensed dealer, then it was an illegal sale...
It depends on the overall diameter of the tire--if your tires are 315/35-17s then they are the same diameter as the stock 245/45-17s and the speedometer will be correct.
Did the seller give you any reason to believe the car had a custom tune?
