Default Brake questions.

My brakes are making a pretty consistent squealing noise anytime I apply a decent amount of pressure. Do you guys think I could get away with just doing pads or would you have someone check out the rotors too. I want to keep it as cheap as possible. Pads should be pretty simple to install right? Any good suggestions for a good, cheap pad would be great as well. Thanks as always.

is it more of a grinding or a squeek? if grinding its metal on metal and you probably have grooved those rotors. I see you have some nice wheels so i would invest in the dustless brake pads, they work fairly well.

It's definitely a squeak. I think I will be good for another 5k or so but I just want to budget my needed repairs. When we pulled my rotors off to do the springs, my mechanic buddy said they looked fine. I have no idea what to look like but I know that when the squeling starts, replacement time is right around the corner. They are stock rotors and pads. Car has 59k on it.

Well whenever you go to chane your pads, give your rotors a good inspection, run your hand along each side and if they are still smooth you are ok, but if they feel like they are grooved or worn, might as well change them as well

Hawk HPS' are a great minimal dust pad. They stop wonderfully and don't make any noise. I speak from experience since I have these. As stated just yank your wheels and inspect the rotors, if it's just a squeak, pads should do the trick.

I actually had a Ford Master Tech look at it today real quick and he said I have about 5-10k left. Also said might as well turn the rotors while I am at it. I would love to do the Cobra upgrade kit or something better but I just don't have the money.

Pads are gonna do ya just fine. Get some low dust pads unless you wanna clean your new FR500's every other day. lol
