Default 0/R H-PIPE VS O/R X-PIPE

Okay, i have the sss adrenaline catback with a bbk o/r x and it sounds good and all but at times its raspy and ive always been a fan of xpipes because i like the rasp to some level but im now looking to change to the more deeper american muscle sound... and from what i hear every1 always says "xpipe is raspy like a race car and hpipe is a deeper rumble"

so my question is for the people that have ACTUALLY had/heard an o/r x compared to the o/r h using the same mufflers headers etc. is the difference between them major or very similar? because if they are close to the same and i wont even be able to tell a difference im not gonna waste the $$$...

thanks

Well i mean i went from a catted MRT h to my catted bbk x and can tell a noticable amount more rasp from the x pipe. So i mean i can only imagine an o/r mid.

Heres some sound clips...same camera for both.

Well you also added longtubes but that wont affect the rasp very much. Honestly, I've had an o/r h with flowmaster american thunder catback on one car and the same catback with an o/r x pipe on another. You can definitely tell a difference and the H was more bassy than the x, but I will tell you something that might be worth looking into. The BBK/Bassani style x pipe is apparently the more raspy of the designs of o/r x pipes. The Pypes/UPR style is less raspy from what ive heard, and the Magnaflow o/r x is the cleanest apparently. I dont know how much of this is true but just some food for though. Also, the aluminized steel i heard is less resistant to rasp, as in stainless steel isnt as raspy apparently. Just some food for thought. And you owe us an exhaust clip before you make the change if you do in fact change.

Yea ive heard the different brands thing too...im lookin into trading my catted x for a buddy's o/r h pipe and addin some highflow cats, think that'd be ok? Has anyone welded in cats before?? How does it sound?

YEA WHAT TEEJ SAID, EXHAUST CLIP!!!!

i was really wanting the adrenaline's but now your muffers are broken in and you are getting rasp, maybe ill pass on them. i have UPR o/r X and regular magnaflow catback, but i think my mags keep the rasp down, if i went to any glasspack style (slp, SSS, magnapack) then it would be a bit raspy.

well this may be a good time to get a clip of this setup, get the H and get a video of that.

Yes i know... i need a clip lol
and smitty dont get me wrong i love the sound of it with the o/r x it sounds great it only starts getting raspy at WOT... im not changing it because i dont like the sound of it now, im just changing it because i wanna try the deep american muscle sound for once... ive had a o/r x on all 3 of my stangs.

Il prolly just end up biying a o/r h if i find one cheap then still keep my x so i can change the setup when i want unless i find out i like one significantly more than the other

I "heard" that X-pipe is more torque and H-pipe is more for h/p, because the x-pipe provides more resistance on the outgoing end, where as the h-pipe is more free-flowing. This is what I heard, so don't take my word for it....I had an X pipe on my 01 gt vert and have one now on my 96 gt coupe and love em (both with high flow cats), sound great but do get loud considering it's a DD

H for torque and x for top end power...you have them reversed.
