Default NT05 Tire review

Hey guys,
Didnt really post anything about buying new tires but I bought me some Nitto NT05's in 295 35 18 size. Now i've only had these things for a few hours and only drove home on them, but on the drive home i tested their grip. These things hook pretty darn well!!! I went at it in first with 4.10's and only had slight spin and then when i hit 2nd hard, they only chirped and i was outta there!!! They felt really good going through turns, felt real solid and didnt feel wobbly or anything. They have been picking up stones along the journey home, so that attests to how sticky they are. I havent tried to push them through the turns yet because my front tires still suck, but they seem to hold the road VERY WELL!!! I look forward to testing these out later in the summer with the fronts in 265 35 18 and the IRS with coilovers on all 4 corners. Here are some pics for you guys...

And here are some of the guys that came out on Saturday night...

I display my tan top proudly thank you very much. LOL but the pictures just didnt have any top in them. I love these tires thus far. They are doing very well for me. They stick to the road like glue and i LOVE IT!!! Nitto did us right with the NT05's and the NT05R's. Both are the 2 best tires they make. My only complaint is the sizes they offer them in...they need a 315 30 18 in both tires!!!

I'm thinking of getting these tires. I've been really impressed with the reviews on them. You think they will be good for my power level? Or should I go with the NT05R for the rears?

Bad example, but if there holding a full bolt on gt with 4.10s in 1st and no spin on 2nd, they should keep your car spin free from mid 3rd on I would think if you have 3.55s. I wouldnt try launching on em though lol..ull light em up.

I wouldnt go with the NT05R's for a street driven car, although im sure that they'd be just like driving around with MT DR's on the rear, so its nothing that isnt done already. But I think that the NT05's hook pretty darn well. They wouldnt spin for me tonight on my hour and a half long drive back to school and it was in the low 60's, and i shocked them pretty hard too. I'd say give the NT05's a shot before you go for the drag radials. Plus with the NT05's you can maintain your ability to handle, and handle well at that.

And to HOSS's comment: I dont know man, some guy over on SVTP is cutting 1.59 60' times with the NT05's(not the R drag radials). You probably would have to find the right tire pressure and heat them up well to make them hook like that, but im sure it can be done. When Ox was still on here, he had a set and he said they hooked better than his NT555R drag radials did...and that was with 665rwhp. So take it for what its worth. And when i shocked the tires today, i left traction control on and didnt get enough spin to trigger tc to come on until high in the rpm band.

My friend with the redfire cobra in the pics there is running NT555's on the rear with bushing upgrades(poly...yuck!!!) and he gets mild spin in 3rd with a whipple pushing mid 5xxrwhp. So you would be stepping up 100 units in treadwear rating and would have a whole lot more contact patch per capita than him with about 80rwhp less. NT05's would be a pretty good choice for you i'd say.

I bought them from a local tire shop actually. Through Discount Tire Direct, they were $237 with free shipping and no tax, but the local dealer was able to sell them to me for $235/tire installed plus tax. So i saved about $20 or so by buying them locally, even after tax.
