Default 305/35/18 DR on 18x9 rim?

says its for a 18x10 rim so would it be like unsafe to drive with that size on an 18x9 rim? its a nitto DR and would be used for DD with occasional track use

i am in the similar situation but believe the most we can go on a 9" in rim is 285. Nittos i believe run a tad smaller in width than most but a 305 would be a no go.

I plan on 285/40/18 for my 9" wide saleen wheels once my BFGs wear out. The 35 to 40 series tire will be taller as well.

Nope, to wide a tire. It will bulge out quite a bit.

Too much tire, not enough wheel. 285 is definitely the widest i would go. And no more than a 35 profile either. Perfect size in my opinion.

well its stupid nitto doesnt have a tire specific for 18x9 rims lol, but i couldve prolly gotten a really good price on those as there is a good ebay auction on them up tomorrow but oooo well lol...they do have 285/35/18 or 285/40/18, although they dont specify it being for an 18x9 rim, i guess the 35's would do when the time comes..thanks

The 35 profile will look better, but the 40 profile will probably launch slightly better, as it will probably as tall or taller than the 305 35 18. But i dont think it would look good with that much profile on an 18" wheel. I have 295 35 18's and they are slightly tall for my tastes and im gonna have to go with some 275 35 18's up front to balance out the look and to make sure the abs braking doesnt freak out because of the difference in sizes front to back.

a 265 40 18 tire is 26.3" tall, the 285 40 18 is 27" tire, so there goes some of your gear. 285 35 18 tire will be 25.85" tall. My 295 35 18's are pretty tall and they are only 26.12" tall, so you would be running a pretty tall tire and losing some of your gear if you went with the 40 profile 285 width tire. Check it out on this website...
