Default !!!!HELP!!!! My 97 GT is having some issues!

I have a 97 mustang 4.6L 2V 5spd GT the only modifications i know of are 355 gears in the back, a short throw shifter, flowmaster exhaust, and possibly a higher flow fuel pump because my pump screams at me! Ok, My problem is that while in gear and accelerating my stang bogs it is doing it in pretty much any gear but, in first i have all the power in the world. the problem is if i am punching it into 2nd and continue into 3rd or 4th the bogging or puddering while accelerating becomes dramatically worse. what could the problem be? i have checked vaccum, and do not see a problem but i am not a ASE mechanic i'm just a person with decent knowledge of cars and can install just about anything. PLEASE!!! help me!

Probably a failing fuel pump. If it's screaming, then it's likely on it's way out and you are running low on fuel pressure. It can't keep up with the demands after first gear.

someone i know that works who is in the racing industry said there is a possibility that its a aftermarket high flow fuel pump and that is why it is loud, could that be possible?

are there any upgrades you would reccomend? some of my ideas where 75MM throttle body cold air intake with a 80MM mass air chaanging out the Y-pipe for a off-road X-pipe and putting in SLP loud mouth 1 exhaust, along with a chip. this would be to prep for a Kenne Bell 2.1L supercharger? does that all sound right to you.

It's possible, but extemely unlikely. No one would have gone through the expense of a high flow fuel pump for a stock car.

yeah your pump should only be heard when you turn the car on for the first time (you can hear it prime) other then that, u shouldn't notice it.

Unless the previous owner had a S/C on the car I doubt that you have a high performance fuel pump.

I guess you could try changing your fuel filter... maybe its so dirty the pump cant push enough fuel through it?? Thus, making the motor work harder (which might be why it is so loud)

i wouldnt say its out of the question even if the previous owner didnt SC it. suppose his OEM pump failed and he figured why not get a better one now than have to worry about upgrading in the future if he did do mods that warranted a new pump. hell theres kids on here asking all the time how much horsepower they will gain by installing new fuel injectors on their nearly stock car.

fuel pump sounds likely. my cherokees fuel pump took a dump on me, but for two weeks before it went it was soooo loud. it sounded like a nasa rocket taking off. cherokee's have in tank fuel pumps also so its seems logical
