Transmission Cooler... needed?
So I got a shift kit in my auto and I was wondering since summer is coming up if I need to install a Transmission Cooler? I've heard that having these shifts kits in may cause the temps to rise from a few people. As of right I haven't noticed it & my thought is that I prob only need to install it if it starts to rise otherwise im a believer in "don't fix what aint broken". Is this correct thinking?
Thanks

Dont have an answer for u but i have some questions...
How is the shift kit, can u feel much of a difference? How much did u get it for and from where... also how much was install?
Let me kno what u think about it... i been thinking bout getting one

I'd suggest it for all auto's but thats just me. Especially if you do performance driving and now that you have a shift kit, i'd do a tranny cooler. I dont think its going to be "necessary" but it would be advised.

Yea, i rack up the billz man. lol but when you think about it, heat probably adds excess wear on parts. So a cooler would probably help in any type of driving situation. What i would do is get a gauge pod with a tranny temp gauge and keep tabs on that for a while and if its within the range that its supposed to be in, then youre fine. If not, tranny cooler should be in your close future.
Also, to correct your previous statement, a tuner is probably even better for an auto car than exhaust because it allows to you mess with your shift points and pressures and stuff, as well as the actual tune itself. Just sayin'

Dude... i love it best mod outside of exhaust for an auto. Theres a bit of debate over if you'll fee it or not. I did though. Took around 4 hours install + 6 bottles of auto tranny fluid. I bought my off ebay for 90. It was the TRANSGO kit. TRANSGo is the only kit that i would even trust to go w/ i know new there go for 114.95 of their website. Okay, now for what it does... it'll make your shift points more solid. As you may know, our cars transmissions are designed to slip a bit between gears but with a shift kit this "slipagge" is all but eliminated leaving you w/ a crisp shift. Believe it or not, this is actually better for your transmission. Oh i almost forgeot it also allows you to hold 1st thru 3rd gear at any RPM (haven't played with yet) sort-a converting your auto to stick kinda.
Hope this ^^ helps

Well I really don't remember the price on either because on my escort I just had them do it while they did my exhaust and on my stang I had them do it with my gears. But i'm almost positive they were under 100 bucks.
