Thanks guys for all the feed back. I believe I will be going with 4.10 gears see what heppens. For those who wanted to know how much HP and TQ I'll be making. well, we will have to wait until I take it to a dyno and a place where they can tune it. I live in Southern Cali and I don't know where to take my car for a good tune and dyno...(I mean a recognized place. If you guys know of any in California let me know...)

I was talking to a mechanic about an instalation of 4.10 gears in my 96GT mustang(Auto). He said this will be a big mistake," RPMS will be High, and in the freeway my spedometer will reach only up to 60-65 mph." Is this true? should I go with 3.73? My other question is; After driving, once I put the car in Park a Hissing sound comes from my transmission. Do you guys know what that might be? Mods on my car are: complete PI swap, comp Stage 2 cams, Underdrive pullies, Cold airs intake (K&N) Accufab plenum and throttle, B&M shift kit, TCI torque converter I don't remember if its 2400 or 3200 stall.
Mods to come: MM coil-overs and Blisteins schocks, cc plates, front lower control arms, rear lower control arms, bump steers, SLP Loudmouth 2, magnaflow Tru X pype and Bassani Midlength headers.
Go with the 4:10s.
Your mech is full of crap.

I don't think you can adjust the speedometer with a tuner. I think you are going to have to change the speedometer drive gear in the transmission.

The overdrive gear ratio makes a difference. I have a T-45 with 3.73 gears. I run approximately the same rpms at 70 mph as a T-3650 with 4.10s. My overdrive gear ratio is .67:1 (about the same as yours).
You can definitely change the speedo with a tuner. The Diablo Predator allows you to make adjustments for a different gear ratio or if you have taller/shorter wheels and tires. I would imagine that the other major tuner companies like SCT and Sniper have the same capabilities as well.

Not on pre-99 cars. Pre-99's had a mechanical speedometer, post 99 have electronic. if its mechanical you need to change the speedo gear.

When does your IRS go in HOSS? And yea, mine will have the stock 3.55's in it so i aint gonna be anywhere near happy til they come out. but i will be able to launch harder if i take it to the track without spinning as much. Only benefit of taller gears in my opinion.

I dunno yet. we have to set something up. the big issue right now is I just had ankle surgery not to long ago and im on crutches for 6 weeks, and cant drive. SOOOOO... unless we can get some other dudes to help its not gonna be done untill around june 8th.

Im getting a 99 irs with 3.73s mm bushings, eibach pro-kit, upgraded pitman arms and endlinks, mac catback. Damn good trade if you ask me. my car is gonna be a straight smooth cruiser after the swap.
