Nittos do run small BUT no, they wont work. It's even pretty tight to have them on 9.5" wheels.

No more than a 255 wide for street driving on stock 8" rims. For drag only duty, 275's will work. But i wouldnt run them on an 8" wheel otherwise. An i say 315s wont work at all.

Well now, they may most likely fit....it's just that their are too big to be safely considered by most. A member long ago posted a picture of a 315 width tire on a stock 17x8 bullitt wheel (I think), and the sidewall just look extremely angled instead of a more straight up and down 'flush' look (which would be what an ideal tire size would look like).

Just because it fits doesn't mean it is safe.

According to 1010 Tires' Wheel Tire Calculator a 315 will fit wheels from 10.5 to 12.5. I'm running them on 10.5 wheels at 25 psi and still wearing the centers out of the tire. I don't believe you will like the result if you put them on and 8" wheel.

That shop should be closed down. That is VERY unsafe and just plain retarded.

At DT, we wont mount anything over a 255 on an 8in wheel. You can fit up to a 275, but its not a wise choice.
