Intercooling...

Right now I am in the middle of purchasing a non intercooled vortech V2. Even though the kit is one that doesn't need an intercooler I would think that buying an intercooler would be alot safer to get along with it as well.
How important is it? Also would it increase hp even though its not a part of the kit?

An intercooler will increase the efficiency and power of the kit especially in hot weather because it will keep your IAT (intake air temp) down. You can get a DIY intercooler kit on eBay for a few hundred bucks. Very good idea IMO.

if you want to make more power on the same pulley then its a great idea. Inter-cooling lowers your ACT (air charge temp). Really its just a way to make more power....

Intercoolers allow you to run more timing without the risk of detonation. An intercooled system is safer than a non-intercooled one.

intercooler adds no horsepower. infact you will run lower boost after intercooler install on the same pulley (usually 1-2 psi drop). so you don't make more HP on the same pulley. to get any power increase from a IC, you have to go to a smaller pulley to atleast maintain your current boost, and increase timing from the lower temps. intercooling allows you to run more boost and more timing safely. even if you only want moderate power, i would still get an IC.
