bad news...

Well i was on my way home from school my motor went. The oil pressure dropped and a flame shot out of the oil fill which blew the cap off and burned the cloth under the hood. I was just cruising when it happened too. So now the motor is ceased so the rebuild begins... Any suggestions on what motor i should build? Im making it a nasty strip car now because im buyng a truck to use for now and to do my side jobs. So any suggesitons and tips would be greatly appreciated thanks guys.

John Tymensky custom built motor.

a 7000rpm+ n/a TFS head'd 2v with a teskid block bored and stroked to a 302 or 324..i'd fap to that every night.

my goal is to get into 11s possible 10s just so you guys know.

well your gonna need about 370rwhp and some sick ass driving but it bet its possible. KenB did it in a 2v n/a it made 420rwhp though

If he did weight reductions maybe. A guy here in town runs high 10s with close to 500rwhp, full interior, full drag suspension, slicks and skinnies, built auto with a stall. All that is on a stock junkyard 4.6 longblock.

Just build an N/A 3v or 4v or wait and build a new 5.0 that they have going 11's already in stock form. But i'd say get a teksid block, some 03 cobra heads and have them worked over, with some nasty cams and rev the hell out of it and run it that way. Are you wanting to stay N/A or are you willing to run F/I or nitrous???

This part for sure...I'm not sure about boring it over if you intend on keeping it NA, but I would LOOOOOVE to see a nastilly cammed, built 2v with the TFS heads, Ported...

Talk to nick McKinney see what he says lol.

Im not against nitrous or a blower. But for right now i just wanna have a nice n/a setup with forged internals so when i want to go f/i i can. Lets say i have around a 5k budget what would be my best way to go right now? My goal is to have it ready for the track next year. So i have time to play with it and see what my best plan would be.

Well, I was at that price range at the end of last year, and after talking to a few guys, decided to wait because 5k wasn't enough to build the NA motor I wanted. The problem is, if you build a NA motor with the intention of boosting later, you will have to compromise in one way or another. You can't build a NA to it's fullest potential and then boost it, because the compression will be too high, and the cams will be wrong for it. But if you build it for boost, and dont boost right away, it won't run well/at with the blower cams you will need to get your full potential. Now, of course you can still build the motor, and put some decent cams in, and then boost it later, you just won't get as much out of it. If you want a NA ONLY motor, with not intentions of boosting, then you can get everything brand new that will rev to the moon and get you around 400rwhp for about 7k$. That's the number I got last year, and I have not gone through with it because I just didnt have that kinda change in the cushions...

Now, you could definitely do it cheaper, if you use a stock block, and piece it together from different companies. But you should definitely talk to some shop owners. I think 10inchterror is who I talked to and got a price from...Cushman maybe..I have terrible memory sometimes..
