The way I see it the higher the octane the safer it will be as far as running lean and detonating, my fuel guy says blend the 113 with pump gas about 50/50 for a N/A 9:1 stock motor. He has been drag racing and selling VP fuels for about 20 years, so my lack of knowledge will take his word for it.

our cars have a 9.6:1 compression ratio first off, and there really is no benefit of running race gas in a stock compression, stock longblock mustang GT. You might gain like 5hp from the bump in timing and thats about it, and a lot of money lost out of your pocket. Its not worth it at all.

Peace of mind on a higher performance tune without detonation is priceless. Even a 5 horsepower gain is realistically what is gained from CAI's, catback's and many of the other bolt ons, they all add up eventually.

Still not worth it in my opinion though, especially since you probably wont even run .1 faster with that tune. And you also run the risk of fugging up your oxygen sensors as they arent meant for race gas and im sure that gas youre running is gonna be leaded.

I have since learned since yesterday when he called me back and yes you are correct the original 113 is leaded and that would be bad! The new alternative is VP100, 100 octane mixed 50/50 with 91(best available) premium will yield 95.5 octane and easily be safe on a 93 octane race tune.

hopefully I will have good results Monday

100 octane is ok then. I just hate that VP's fuels are so damn expensive comparatively. But yea, that will be fine, but i doubt you will see much of an improvement.

I have messed around with the built in 2 step on the SCT X3 on the street and it rules, I am really excited to see how it works on the track. On the street I can barely rev to 2500 without blowing the tires off. I am hoping on the track to be able to raised upwards of 4-4500 without suspension mods and still hookup.
