Wow, haters gonna hate.

No clue as to why my oil changing practices sparked such an onslaught of instigating banter.

Chill pills need to be dispensed.

lol ok Devon white flag is out. I wish I could get my hands on the report, I think you would find it an interesting read.

I guess I should say, given the conditions. Here is an oua of cheveron 5w 30 dino oil going 6k + miles, with still some life left in the oil.

Is that a production run of oil or just a sample run? Thats a great report! IIRC all our dino oil test patches took a crap around 5500 miles.. complete sludge by then.

Thread Hijack

I get around 17 MPG mostly in town, but I usually apply the skinny pedal a little heavy. As others said maybe the canned tune is not too good, I have nothing but good things about the Bama tuning from AM.

Fuel filter, spark plugs, clean/change air filter, etc. Also, check your tire pressures and remove any extra crap that's in the trunk or back seat area.

+1 to H0ssyboy. Your tune might just be very rich.
Is that just a tune up? Or is there more to a tune up? I am low on funds and I have no idea how much a tune up costs. My mileage counter doesn't work, I was having over-heating problems so my dad changed the needle, now the needle doesn't work right. It barely makes it to the first normal line sometimes. I need a lot of help

There are numerous characteristics of synthetic oil that make it a superior engine lubricant--but it load's up with contaninants (acids, solid by=products of combustion, and other bad stuff) at the same rate as dino juice.

I run 10W-30 Penzoil (or Q, same thing) from Wally-World--they have the Motorcraft 820S filter for $3 or so too--and change it every 2500 to 3000 miles.

My grandfather told me 50 years ago that oil was cheaper than engines...

Re: Oil Analysis, unless you are just trying to see how long you can run it I don't see the point--the analysis costs as much as 6 qts, of decent oil and a filter...
