I should have re-sanded the calipers, but if you aren't looking at them from 6 inches away, they look awesome..
They were sanded, then painted red with a brush on kit... Then i just decided to apply 4 coats of gloss black spray paint on top of the red, but you can see all the streaks from the paint brush on the red of the first coat... Now i am stuck with it bc i dont feel like buying another can of black spray paint for $8.

When I did mine I used a right-angle die grinder and woven pads to remove all the casting texture and start w/ a mirror finish prior to painting.
The metal polishes up really nicely and isn't too difficult to do.

Took me i guess maybe an hour and a half to spray a bunch of coats and do the lettering. That's with time in between to dry.. Not too long. Sanding took me forever though and i did NOT want to do it again...
Figure about 2 hours to do it all. Spray paint FTMFW

On several bronze parts for my boat I just covered the polished bronze w/ a heavy marine grease to keep it from turning green.
Most of my boat parts get metal primer, then epoxy, then top coat. Most of my car parts just get Rustoleum Professional.
