3.73/4.10 differential

Please get the 4.10s, I was fooled by people telling me to get the 3.73s when I swapped my axle. They just werent enough for me. I have an Auto BTW, if you are stick you shouldnt even consider 3.73s. If you are gonna spend the money you might as well get your moneys worth. And honestly my 4.10s are only about 1 MPG worse then my 3.73s were on gas. Dont fear the gear and waste a ton of money like I did!

no offence 2010v6stang but im goingto use you as a example. see, your a NA v6 (a high hp v6 lol) with the nitto 555s so i would recremend 4.10s, maybe even 4.30s. but me being a gt with a vortech and cams waiting on install im going 3.55s or 3.73s so i dont blow the tires off every time i cram it. another thing, i using my car as more of a auto-x car. heres a example of maybe what the op wants-
a steet strip car running full bolt ons and slicks to put on at the track. i'd choose 4.10s or 4.30s

All things being = you want a gear that will be within your trap speed for 1/4 racing. if you get 4.10s but need to run a 28" tire so you can run through the traps without bouncing off the limiter, (in the words of Steve Jobs) you blew it.
Now, that being said... dont be scared of 4.10s because others are to stupid to run a set of upgraded lower c/as and good tires. I see so many ppl crying about how 4.10s cause to much traction issues ect. Gas mileage is a wash to. I have full bolt ons, 4.10s and a t45 and I still get 25-26 highway going 80..
iv racing a crapton of gts with the same mods as me just with 3.73s and im always ahead by a car length to a car n a half. thats about .1-.2 in the quarter mile.

Yea I hear yaschool boy, If you plan on a S/C anytime soon then you might not want to go so high. But between my tires and worked suspension, I have 0 traction issues with 4.10s. And I have much more work done that I havent put in my sig.... just been lazy lol.

naturally aspirated go 4.10 if not 4.30
vortech under 15lbs of boost i'd still consider 4.10's
Kenne bell i'd probably go 3.73
nitrous under a 125 i'd go 4.10
anything higher than 500 hp3.55 or 3.73 unless its an 1/8th mile racer only

There is no one magical gear. You pick the gear that best fits your specific application. You specifically said 1/4 mile. For that you will be running a sticky tire. You're not running a power adder. 4.10s is probably a good choice.
My car is a daily driver. It might never see a drag strip. I drive 20,000 miles per year through all types of weather including snow. I drive street tires because I don't intend to buy two sets of tires per year. I have a power adder. That's why I picked 3.73s and I still have no traction in first and very little in second.
