Lightweight parts are always better IMO. The less rotating mass, the quicker you are. I have almost bought one plenty of times but just never did. Its pretty easy to install.

There is less vibration at higher (freeway) speeds, as well as the stronger u-joints. Install is simple...but you might have to jack up the rear of the car. I don't remember from when mine was put in, any other input on this?

thats more reasonable. if you are full bolt-ons go for it. let me know if it makes any difference. do you know the weight difference between the two?

i don't know if i would say that. i just don't think it would make a big enough difference for $300. i could be wrong though...i have nothing to compare a before and after unfortunately. only car i had with a non-aluminum DS was the 94, and it was a huge pig compared to the 03, so theres no way thats a fair comparison.

I could swear some time ago on this forum some one had mentioned it brings the drive train loss from 15% down to 12% roughly but I don't remember if the included pulleys.

For the S197 your shave off over 25 pounds. Coast Drive Line claims the lighter shaft will knock off .2 in the 1/4 mile.
I like mine even if I don't race the car.

+1, not only is it less weight, its less weight to TURN, which is much better than simply saving weight like taking out a spare tire.

Yeah you have to jack up the rear of the car, i think all you need is a 3/8s ratchet and a 12mm socket. I only remember that because i broke my 12mm socket last time i had the front of my driveshaft off, my dad said hes broken many ratchets in his life but never saw someone break a socket, first time for everything i suppose lol.

Lol he may have picked up 5mph but it sure wasn't from the aluminum driveshaft alone, If he's saying he picked up 5mph consistantly with no other mods then yes, thats BS lol.
