Seafoam

Seafoam
Alright well i had my lower intake off and just looking down into my heads i could see my exhaust valves were all kind of gunked up, so i figure seafoam will help out right? Well today a friend of mine tells me seafoam is a last resort thing for engines on their last leg. I've never heard this before, he then goes on to tell me its made of sand and will rob power.
Any truth to anything he's saying?

I have never heard the sand thing about seafoam. And your friends other comment is kinda retarded also.
There are so much misguided info about seafoam. You either love it or hate it I personally think there is nothing wrong with it and use it at least once a year.
Here is how I look at it they have been around since the 30's and I have yet to see any hard proof that seafoam is bad. Just a lot of BS on the internet posted by people that heard it from Uncle Buba that says he is a Mechanic that seafoam is crap

Seafoam is a wonderful preventative maintenance item, yeah sure if you have a serious problem that you think Seafoam will fix it won't because you have something wrong with something else.
It can clean the valves and intake components, but also in the oil it will loosen the deposits and sludge so they can be circulated into the oil filter/oil and removed at the next change.

So uhh for my EGR system, where should i put seafoam in? The hose that goes directly to the EGR valve is tiny, i can't really find any hoses that go to the intake that are vacuum hoses and are bigger than the same hose that goes to the EGR valve.

I started reading it and thought...'Is he freaking serious??? Oh...He's not! LOL'
I used to use Seafoam on my old Mustang...nothing wrong with it! As stated before, good preventative maintenance.
