Gear question for T-45 vs 3650 trans?
Hey guys, I have an 01 GT manual with the T-45 trans. I've been reading through posts for the past day or so trying to figure out what gears to get. I'm leaning towards the 4.10's due to the majority of the posts I have seen, however a good chunk all of the posts I've noticed have been on cars that I know have the 3650 tranny.
What I am trying to figure out is... I think T-45's are geared a bit higher than the 3650 trans cars right? If so, my RPMs will be slightly higher vs the 3650 trannys due to that correct? Or do I totally have that hill billy *** backwards?

Well the t-45 is geared lower(higher numerically). You will turn a few more RPMs, but 4.10s are still the choice to get. I did fine with them in my car. I feel slow as hell with the 3.73s I have now.
I still get the same gas mileage btw.

What do you want to do with the car? The first four gears are the same it's fifth gear that's different. There is an 8% difference between a T-3650 in fifth and a T-45 in fifth. That makes the T-3650 with 4.10s a little more interstate friendly than a T-45 with 4.10s.

I've been watching some Youtube vids with manual mustangs that have 4.10s and at around 80 mph in 5th gear the RPMs are at about 3k. Mine at 80mph is only about 2k. From what I've been reading I should see about a 500 rpm increase with the 4.10s, but it seems much higher than that.

just go 4.10's...81mph at 3000rpm. 68mph at 2500rpm. My car with the T3650 is 73mph at 2500rpm and 88mph at 3000rpm. Just get the 4.10's man. I mean i know from experience that 4.10's are a lot of fun. HOSS can tell you the difference between 3.73's and 4.10's because he's had them both with your transmission.
