Default This is why you don't cheap out on suspension parts

I was installing my Team Z uppers today and this is what came off. They are bent, cracked, and mangled. I was told when I bought the car that they were Lakewoods, but after having them off and and getting a better look at them, they don't look like the Lakewoods I've seen online. Whatever they are, they are worthless pieces of crap. These damn things are one of the many reasons my car won't launch worth a crap

You can see in this one how bent they are. They are supposed to be completely square

I know they're just old and beat up, but they almost look like redneck tweeker fab'd peices in those pics. That's the axle side that's all tore up, right?

I don't know how many idiot rednecks powdercoat their crap. Apparently they look like the old style UPRs.

They have been cracked for a while by looking how bad the rust is in the cracks

welds look deicent, that alone means not likly red neck....most backyard welders arnt that great either. Just could be cheep metal, or wrong wire for the application. Lots of flexing in those parts, so if you use wrong wire, or heat the metal too much it becomes brittle and can crack. and since the weld itself didnt fail, im going with bad prep/heat or possible wrong metal for application. That and you hammer on **** all the time it will break at some point, who knows how long thats been in there. lol

looking at that again, if your saying that whole thing is suposed to be square, id say they didnt use thick enough base metal to weld that square tube too. Probebly 1/8 inch, should be 3/16 or 1/4 maybe

This is a very good description of the suspension on our cars--the rear suspension section offers good advice regarding upper control arms...

Yeah, they definitely should have used thicker/stronger metal. When they bent/cracked it totally threw off the angle of the UCAs too.

So much for selling them!!! how much does the steel weigh? might be worth $2 as scrap

Good thing you have a nice setup now, see what kind of difference it makes.
