Umm......I don't want to disagree with everyone here, but the 99 to mid 01' uses a 10.5" clutch. The Mid 01-04 uses the 11" clutch. I used a king cobra 10.5" kit for mine(2000) and it also specified it only fit up to mid 01' models. This shows that the T-45 uses the 10.5" and the T3650 uses the 11" right? Also, I read an article claiming that romeo engines had a 6 bolt crank while Windsor built engines had the 8 bolt. Mine is a windsor, and has the 8 bolt. BUT-I have been told by others that they have had 8 bolt from the factory in a romeo as well. SO-who the hell knows??

Because the MFG said they only used T-45 96-99. But Cliff posted something different so who knows. I just assumed the MFG would have facts on there website

I tracked it down in the shop manuals...

The 1999 to 2001-1/2 4.6L (2V) used a 10.5" plate with a 10.4" disc, the 4V used an 11.0" plate with a 10.5" disc--oddly the V6 used an 11.0" plate with an 11.0" disc?:

For 2001-1/2 to 2004 they all got 11.0" plates and discs:

TTC relates part of the story on their site, that "...[the] T-45 was used on the 1996-1999 Ford Mustang Cobra..." Likely because it would be less impressive to say that it was also used on the GT. There was no regular Cobra made in 2000, only the stripped Cobra R (Racing) mode which used the T-56l.

It was also used on the '96 through '01-1/2 GT (all 2001 Cobras had the 3650). This is well documented in the shop manuals where both transmissions are described.

There's no exact cut-off date or VIN "breakpoint" listed, however this is not unusual as it can take anywhere from a few days to a couple weeks for changes like that to work their way through the assembly line. For models made on separate lines there may cars made on the same day where one has the change and the other does not.

2001 is such an interesting year! I feel a little bit more informed now. So really if you have a 2001 you could have any combination of the such...At least I'm not the only one who's somewhat confused with the 2001's.
