Damn, im definitely glad I didnt put those cams in. They might not have caused it, but something tells me they did.
My guess is the cams did cause the noise. The specs on those cams were tight for a stock PI head.

The mechanic didn't degree them because you didn't tell him to. You were told the cams might come advanced or retarded from the factory and even when they were properly degreed it would still be a tight fit. Looks like spending that extra money would have been a wise choice.

No i told him to...but he said it wasn't needed. And so did Hitech. The cams were also put in w/o me knowing as a surprise sooo......no not my fault sorry but thanks.

Hitech isn't going to tell you you have to degree the cams. If they did that no one would buy them. A mechanic that says you wouldn't need to degree those cams doesn't know what he's talking about. I don't mean to sound like a jerk i'm just saying.
Ok so that motor looks SICK, but that means your also going F/I?? If you go that opton right there you are not only surpassing your 6k budget, you are hammering it to the ground.
