Alright I will do the on road one a few times and ask if they have time to do the one on the dyno. Pro-dyno stays pretty busy so we shall see.

It's easy to do a few cycles while you've got it up in the air, this also means that if any issues come to light it's already up in the air with tools nearby...

+1... I asked my mechanic if I had to heat cycle the gears a few times or any of that stuff and he laughed and asked if I heard it from the forums LOL... Needless to say, I ripped it outta the parking lot and no problems here.

It true, the engineers just say that to give shop mechanics a hard time.

No one on a professional race track ever bothers with it; big deal if the rear-end blows after 497.5 miles...

More than likely not. I may have to work. If I do though I will let you know. I live in Wilkes by the way. Small world.

+3 for smoking them out of the lot....

heat cycles are a myth from days gone by. Motive is the only manufacturer that states any sort of heat cycling is necessary. I talked to them on the phone and I asked why no other manufacturer recommended heat cycling, he didn't have an answer. One more reason I will only purchase FRPP gears. Think about this logically...how hot does steel need to get for any type of heat treating? 1000-1200* or more maybe? Do you really think anything is getting that hot in the rear end of your car? Ya...no.

So then, what could be the purpose of heat cycling? To break in...what? The fact is the gears are annealed and heat treated at the factory. They are never going to change metallurgically, unless they are become red hot again. If someone has some proof as to why heat cycling is necessary, by all means, school me, but I have researched this as much as I can, and have found nothing so far other than hearsay.

Cliff, please note this is not a derogatory attack at you by any means, I respect your vast knowledge on many subjects, but this one i just can't buy without some proof..
