I have run the GS-D3's and MUCH prefer the Michelin PS2's for cornering grip. I have a review in the Saleen section, but cannot find link at the moment.

I have 255-40-17 on 17X9, those are the widest i can go on my 96 up front. Any more and i would hit my sway bar under full corning.

One thing i did notice about the 555's was that the sidewall is kind of soft, giving the turns a kind of sloppy feel. A tire with a stiffer sidewall would be better for handling i bet.

my 03 GT came with
front--Riken raptor zr. I'v never heard of the brand, but they seem good.
rear-- Nexen N3000. these are absolute junk! If you hit a bump going aroung an on/off ramp, be prepared to correct the fish tail. Also with any "spirited" driving, you'll just waste your effort because all they do is spin.

Have you seen those new BFGoodrich commercials?

First street tire to pull a 1G Turn.

Not sure waht tire they are talking about, but I have g-Force T/A KDW and they grip like a ****. They also are some of the meanest looking tires you can get.

My lil bro has an 09 Cobalt SS, it used to be able to pull a tighter and faster turn when my stang had the 245/45R17, now, the stang kicks it's butt and I haven't even dropped it yet.

I'm running 255/40R18 in front and 285/40R18 in the back.

The 245/45R17s already have a lot of sidewall pooch, I can't think of another car that runs them stock, I remember I would always have to order my new tires for the stock rims, the tire store almost never had them in stock.

That could be due to the SRA. Around corners with bumps it's brutal and will skip around.

^ This is more a symptom of the rear suspension combined with the speed/conditions of the road surface. I run an SRA and do not have such issues, but poored TONS of money into my ride to avoid them .... I mean,

^^ A set of lower control arms can help keep the rear end in place and keep the back end where it is supposed to be... behind you.
