Vortech Intercooled vs. Aftercooled...
#13
The aftercooler is pretty much like the roots/twin screw style intercooler. Its an air/water/coolant intercooler and depending on the setup, like said, will give you better results. Im actually the one who got Purp up here convinced to go with a twin screw if he is gonna blow the money. A twin screw is just a more streetable blower from my standpoint. The centri blowers was someone's cheap idea to combine a supercharger and turbo when you think about it. The headunit itself is essentially a turbo without the exhaust side, and in place of the exhaust side they put a belt drive. You still have to turn a certain amount of RPM in order to make the boost you want, and it takes power away from the motor to drive the blower...its like the strain of putting a huge a/c compressor on your car to still have what I consider lag even though its belt driven. I'm either going to experience lag from a turbo and have it be way more efficient than a centri blower...or...im gonna put a twin screw on and at least get the benefit of instant boost from having the power adder being belt driven.
This all is why I wont put a centri blower on my car...it takes the worst aspects of both power adders and combines them. lol I have the cash on hand to do a complete Vortech/Procharger/Paxton s/c kit, but I will not do it. Money is being put into either a turbo or a twin screw.
Hows that for thoughts? lol
