I was just wondering. and before I start my build with a bare block what kind of things do I need to get done with it at a machine shop?
There are lots or good write ups out there. The key when doing any build is...research. Do LOTS of reading before you ask questions that require very specific info like you are wanting.
Plan out your build and OVER budget EvERYTHING!!!! What are your goals, is this a street car, how much money ya got? Ya know?
That's what I kinda figured..... Am I right to assume that the GT500 was suppose to be Fords answer to the Z06? I saw a GT500 pitted against a Grand Sport Corvette (Car and Driver) and if you looked at both cars on paper, the GT500 should have won hands down. Tourqe, RWHP were its advantages but the Grand Sport walked the dog on the GT500... I guess that would be a good scenario for not having the right combo of things needed to put the HP to the ground..

I think it is fair to say that with anything above 400rwhp, a comparison becomes a head to head burnout contest in an acceleration test without a solid suspension setup.

What can you say, it's a Ford with the typical Ford performance car problem. The suspension sucks ***. Every 'stang since the foxbody (I can't remember further back than that, born in '86) has had a horrible problem with wheel hop among other things. The design isn't bad once you get some aftermarket parts in there, but the stock stuff just isn't made for preformance driving of any kind.
