Default 94 Cougar 4.6 Auto, is it the same as Mustang Motor

Sorry about the newbie question guys, but I'm not familiar with ford stuff.
I have an opportunity to pick up a running, driving 94 Cougar donor car for $250 and I'd love to put that motor and trans to work in a stang if there the same, or at least similar. If there not the same, can anybody tell me the differences, (cam, exhaust, rear end, computer, and so on.) Thanks guys

its not a modular engine, just a 4.6 so it probably wont work without spending a ton of money

Used PI motors can be found for cheap these days. No sense is cheaping out 300 bucks by getting an NPI motor w/ seemingly half the power and the same amount of work.

www.tccoa.com is the place for the best info on these cars.

This was the first car and year to get Fords ODBII system.

The shortblock is an NPI, the heads are an early totally junk lower flowing NPI type that won't even accept a stock PI cam swap. You can swap the heads and intake to a PI setup but its a lot more work than a 96+ NPI.
