Default 96GT PI swapped Kenne Bell question

I am about $200.00 away from purchasing a KB IC 2.1 for my 96GT. Unfortunatly, KB no longer makes the kit for the 96-98GT's. I purchased a set of PI heads the other day to swap over. I already had a PI intake installed. My original plan was to go with FI with the PI intake but keep the NPI heads to keep the compression down.

My question is, I am looking into Cometic head gaskets for the PI heads to knock the compression back down to stock. Are there any pros/cons to doing this? Also, which thickness of gasket would I be looking for.

Install the kb on the npi heads just like you would install the pi intake on the npi heads.

I was thinking about doing that as well, but I was told it is a bad idea as the ports to not line up 100% on the NPI heads, and with the added pressure of the blower, it can cause issues. Kenne bell was the one's who told me that I "had" to swap over to the PI heads.

When I installed the PI intake on the NPI heads, the only ports that i remember not lining up 100% were the coolant passages which was fixed by added a little RTV.

If I can do this safley, I would be really happy.

I have heard about the adaptor plates as well. I shot an email off to KB, so I guess I will see what they say. I am hoping to use the NPI heads though as not only will it save me money, but time as well.

Most people don't like adapter plates b/c they move the injectors to a far less effective postion than they are normaly. I'd say try rtving the coolant ports again, slap the kb on the npi heads and see what happens. It's not like it'll take more than a few hours to pull off if it blows a gasket.

I think I am going to go with this. Hopfully within the next 2-3 weeks I can report on if it works or not. Thanks for the help!
