Tomorrow begins my hunt for an 8-cyl. Ive owned my sixer for about 7 months now and finally have the opportunity to upgrade.

I don't plan to race or use any kind of FI. Its going to be my DD for awhile and the only mods im planning to do are exhaust and gears.

My budget is around 8k and im looking to get a new edge. I was wondering what the differences are between the 03-04 and the 99-02. Is it worth the extra cash to get an 03-04? Ive learned to dismiss the idea that newer is better. But is it true here? Any feedback would be appreciated.

I can't really say, as I don't know any details.

However, I have a 2002 GT and have loved it. Never had any problems with it. All I've done is exhaust and some appearances mods.

There are only very subtle differences, I'd go with an 03 or 04. Hold out and find exactly what you want....color/interior/condition/5speed or auto, etc. There are a million out there so don't be afraid to hold out. Once you pick one up, don't let anyone kid you and waste your time and money. Best bang for the buck mods without getting into F/I or heads/cams? 4.10s/tuner/short throw/offroad midpipe/sticky tires.

Either way, maintain it and take care of it, and drive it like you stole it. You'll love it.

Oh and be ready!!....For the "Mod-bug" to bite you. lol If you get bit by the modbug, it will be an endless obsession with making your car faster, sound better, look better, and make it more unique than any other on the road. But if you do plan on getting some serious horsepower, F/I is the way to go.

Yeah there must be a million, ive noticed different stangs pop up everyday on craigslist and im even getting offers to buy lol.

Im definitely going to stick around for one that i want, cause this ride is going to be with me for a loooong time while i finish college and head to graduate school (fingers crossed).

Youre probably right purple, as soon as i start touching the stang, im sure im going to want more and more lol.
