Running summer tires on a V8 mustang in the winter is like suicide. I bought a set of stock mustang wheels and put Hankook ICEBEARS on them....purchased the tires brand new and I **** you not... These tires are AWESOME. Rain or snow, they were very good to me. Granted it will not drive like a 7000 pound truck with 4wd through 6inches to a foot of snow, but as far as tempting putting a mustang in that kind of weather, they exceeded my expectations by far.

EDIT - Get the gears done by a pro unless you are a mechanic. And while you are at it, I'd throw some 31spline axles in there with a complete rear rebuild kit to build that f'er up since your planning on going F/I.

You should definitely get an additional set of wheels/tires for the winter if you intend on driving the stang in the winter. It just so happens I have a very good conditon set of Wheels and tires I could sell you lol. PM if you are interested. I'll get some pics for you.
