I bought a 1995 V6 Mustang convertible when I was 16 as my first car. I paid like 4500$ for it and then drove it around forever. I blacked out the front and rear tail lights, and got a 96-98 cobra hood for it. Even got a brand new paint job on it. I wanted a faster car so I actually spent quite a bit of money trying to make it faster. 4.10 gears, Cammed, stage 3 heads, stage 3 upper/lower intake, true dual exhaust, flowmasters, CAI. I eventually went so far as to twin turbo it. Was messing around one day and shattered 3rd gear in my auto transmission and put it in a friends body shop until I could get the funds to repair the transmission. Ended up getting stolen about 4 days later out of the body shop. Ended up getting around 7k$ for it (not nearly what I put into it) and put the money into the bank. I bought a 1986 Pontiac Firebird from my Uncle who owns a body shop and had recently repainted it. Beautiful car, but slow as hell. Eventually got bored of it and found a 99 Mustang GT close to where I lived for retardedly cheap. Bought the GT and sold the Firebird. Been modding it ever since.
Picture of my 1995 (Yes it was pretty ricey, but I was 16 and it was at least clean):

Kernsy that V6 looked pretty sweet! ESPECIALLY at 16 and as a first car! The high school babes must have loved jumping in that thing...

I forgot, another reason why I wanted a GT, specifically a 99-04 is because the exhaust tone on our cars are like...teh sex. The 05-09 aren't as loud for some reason.

Look at it this way, even if you bought a mach for 12k and spent 7k modding it you'd still have a built bottom end and a supercharger but you probably wouldn't have the sweet *** seats and i like the looks of the cobra over the machs. Not to mention the IRS and such.

BTW OP, do you mean there are no Auto Mach's or you didn't want an auto mach??? Because Mach 1's came in auto also...
i got into an argument about this /w someone the other day, auto machs do exist they are just kinda gay b/c they rev 1k rpms lower due to a diff crank pulley, also do not have a forged crank like the manuals.

yeah that was essentially my train of thought. plus i've always wanted one of these.

btw...i got into mustangs in general by flipping through various aftermarket parts catalogs when i was 15. i saw catalog after catalog with huge mustang sections of parts. i then went onto the internet and saw multiple videos and knew i had to have one. seeing and hearing a few in person just solidified the fact. went out and bought my 94 for 5k a year later.
