2003 GT Convertible...Looking for help on upgrades
My car is completely stock right now with the exception of a K&B intake. I'm looking to put the horsepower in the mid-upper 300's. I don't know a lot about cars, but the upgrades I was thinking about now are 3.73 gears, headers/exhaust, and maybe a tune? I'd like to keep the price under about $2,000-$3,000. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

The only way I know of to make that type of power is a vortech style supercharger. If you peice the kit together (like Soldier Gt and Myself are doing) you could probably do it for around $2000 realistically. Plus you'll need a tune. You should also get exhaust done so you get better exhaust flow. Just my 2 cents.

What kind of horsepower gain could I expect from piecing a supercharger or turbocharger together like that? I talked to a guy at a local shop and he recommended getting the full Mac exhaust and headers and I would have a guaranteed 42 horsepower gain. That + 3.73 gears sounds like it would really make my car come alive.

If you want to make serious power (like Bpholman13 said) piece together a S/C. I bought a Vortech V1 (pieced together) and I spent 2100 bucks. Could have been cheaper but I wanted some extra stuff. Pretty sure Bpholman and myselef could help you out on this one. Good luck..

WTF!!!!!!! I just caught that. Stay away from those guys cause they don't know what the fu** there talking about. Wow guys did you read that.. 42 horses from exhuast and headers.. That's insane!!

LMAO!!!! Youd be lucky to get 20hp more, and thats really stretching it. Thatd be full exhaust too. Meaning headers, x pipe and catbck.
Do yourself a favor. Have an x pipe or h pipe installed. If you can run without cats then do that. I have to because I live in california. Get the catback of your choice. From what everyone says, most people prefer borla stingers or magnaflow magnapacks.
Then peice together a supercharger kit. Dont forget, if you dont have any mechanical skills, youll need someone to install it for you. Meaning that youll have to factor that into the cost of the supercharger.
With that stuff plus a tun you could probably get about 350hp without it being intercooled.

Just 20 hp? Wow..that's nowhere near what he said. I asked about borla and bassani, but he said with those companies you're just paying for a name. He recommended the Mac headers, x-pipe, prochamber, and whatever else goes into it. He said it was the full exhaust from the long tube headers to the tip and that the company guarantees a 42 horsepower gain. I talked to him today about pricing and it would be about $1060 for all the pieces. If it's not going to be as much boost as he claims, I might just go with something different.
I'm planning on going with 3.73 gears and having them installed next Tuesday. I asked about Ford Racing gears and he said they are made by Richmond and the Richmond gears are the exact same thing except cheaper. Is that true?
I'm not 100% sure on the superchargers just yet. I've always wanted a turbo, though I know it's more of a ricer thing(and they're crazy expensive). Is there anything other than that I can look at doing before I put a super on it that can move me into the mid 300's hp without killing my gas mileage or being crazy expensive?

Ive heard good things about mac longtube headers. Mostly because theyre the cheapest long tube headers available. What you need to decide is what sound you prefer the most. Bassani, borla, magnaflow, flowmasters, and with what type of mid pipe. xpipe or h pipe no cats or cats. I know that the x pipes have a more raspier sound. I would say that the x pipe sounds more nascarish and the h pipe sounds more muscle carish. Youre not going to gain enough hp differnce from h pipe to x pipe. I suggest going on youtube and look at all the different combinations. All the companies sound different from on another. Its all based on personal choice.
As for more power thats easily installed, nitrous is the easiest from what I hear. Thatd get you around 300hp.
