If they are telling you to install those cams with a 108 ICL you will 100% have PTV issues. And yes they have been retarding their cams because of PTV issues. Retarding cams leaves a lot of midrange on the table and that is where it counts.

I wouldn't suggest anything but CMS cams. They have been proven to make great power and be safe. I have really only messed with blower cams but I installed my stage 3 and my buddy's stage 2 cams straight up and they both had no problems. Hell those stage 2 cams really impressed me. His car had my stock ported heads, ported TFS intake Built shortblock with 8.8:1 and a D1-sc at 10lbs and his car made 535rwhp when he ran out of fuel pump at only 5000rpms. Would have been around 600rwhp with the right fuel system.

CMS Stage 2 cams make great power but have been measured to have .005" of clearance when installed at their 108 IC. .005" is the thickness of a hair. Installed those cams just a hair wrong and your intake valves are making out with your pistons. Again, IMO not worth the risk. Ask any engine builder what their acceptable PTV range is the they won't say .005", more like .035" at a minimum when some say .070".

And with that little of clearance, that .005" decreases as you rev the motor higher.

Go with the HiTech StageII cams! I bought and installed mine a little over a year ago and have had zero issues with them. I also have JLT CAI, Steeda UDP, BBK Long tubes, MAC prochamber, 3 chamber Flowmasters, 4.10 gears and a custom tune which makes 301rwhp and has run 12.65@111mph with DRs(note: this is all on a Bullitt motor). The car is set-up with VERY stiff handling springs so it DOES NOT transfer weight worth a crap, but still gets down the 1320 in decent time. It is VERY docile for DD and has a nice sound when idling. You will NOT regret going with these cams!!!

You can listen to guys who DON'T have them, or listen to guys who DO have them, the choice is yours.
GOOD LUCK with whatever you decide to go with!
